
After successfully passing the training program, the trainee should:
- Know how to manoeuvre approaching to pilot station taking into account time, tide and braking track conditions.
- Mooring and Unmooring operation specification on Twin Engine Ships.
- Be able to handle Twin Engine ship manoeuvring in rivers, sailing in confined waters, taking into account tide, wind and shallow water under keel influence on the manoeuvrability of the vessel.
- Be able to manoeuvre in shallow water taking into account change of under keel clearance due to squat, rolling or pitching.
- Know interaction between moving vessels, as well as own large ship interaction with coasts (bank effect).
- Be able to perform mooring and unmooring with or without tug assistance in wind, current or tidal conditions.
- Understand the interaction between Twing Engine ships and tugs.
- Know the use of power and manoeuvring systems.
- Know how to make decisions about the use of anchors for Twing Engine ship handling and manoeuvring, place of anchorage and factors influencing necessary anchor chain length.
- Know about the situation when the anchor is dragging and be able to clear the anchor.
- Be able to manoeuvre and handle the Twin Engine ship in stormy weather conditions.
- Understand the importance of handling Twin Engine ships at slow speed to escape damage from waves from behind.
- Turning Circle on Twin Engine Ship.
- Use of Twing Engine Ships – manoeuvring using both engine “Ahead and Astern Effect”.
Entry Standards for admission to the training course are:
- Certificate of Competency, Education Certificate, or Certificate of Proficiency (according to the requirement of the specific fields as defined by the international or national regulations);
- Seamen’s book, Civil passport, or ID.
