
After successfully passing the training program, the trainee should:
- gain the knowledge and skills of safe operation, ship-handling techniques and maneuvering abilities in polar waters;
- have knowledge and skills of autonomous navigation in ice or/and with ice-breaker assistance;
- be able to perform mooring operations in ice conditions;
- understand ice characteristics and areas where different types of ice can be expected in the area of operation;
- have awareness to monitor and ensure compliance with legislative requirements;
- understand to apply safe working practices and to respond to emergencies.
Entry Standards for admission to the training course are:
- Certificate of Competency, Education Certificate, or Certificate of Proficiency (according to the requirement of the specific fields as defined by the international or national regulations);
- Seamen’s book, Civil passport, or ID.
