This course is designed for beginner 4th and 3rd Engineers, as well as for top management, who have received relevant maritime education and need to develop and update both theoretical, practical knowledge and skills. The course covers all issues, that are necessary for the 4th and 3rd Engineers. After completion of the course, they will be able to fully fulfill their obligations on board the ship and go through interviews with employers.

IGS installation and cargo equipment

The module describes:

-All aspects connected with the IGS system;

-Emergency stop procedure of cargo pumps, testing, making appropriate records

-Equipment necessary for the tank washing

Main Engine overhauling

Description:

- Checking and maintenance program and list of working procedures

- condition checking procedures

- condition based overhauling procedures

- time-based overhauling procedures

Cylinder cover dismantling

- preparation of engine for overhauling

-removing of pipes for cooling water, fuel injection system and air system

-removing of high-pressure pipe for actuator and exhaust valve

-removing of protective jacket between exhaust gas receiver and exhaust valve

Cylinder cover overhauling

-dismount all valves and pipes on the cylinder cover

-dismount all suds on the cylinder cover

-remove all O-ring from cylinder cover and make cleaning operation.

-put the new O-ring on the place and guide the cover cooling jacket

- make recondition of fuel valves bore and exhaust valve bore.

Mounting of cylinder cover

- place of new sealing ring

-lift the cover by means of lifting crane

-place cooling water pipes

-mounting of cover nuts and tightening of nuts by hydraulic tools

Piston checking

-remove the inspection cover on the camshaft cover side of the cylinder frame

-make all measurements according to instruction book

Piston dismantling

-remove the stuffing box bolts

-remove the nuts on the on the piston rod

-dismount the cylinder cover

-turn the engine until piston will be on the top dead

- clean the top part of the piston and mount the piston removing tools

- removing of piston and piston rode from the cylinder

Piston overhauling

-remove the piston skirt nuts

-remove the piston crown and change the O-rings

-assemble the piston crown and piston skirt, tight the nuts by mean of special torque

-make pressure test

- mounting of piston in the cylinder

Piston rod stuffing box checking

- dismantling and checking of clearance

-uppermost scraper ring and lowermost scraper ring vertical clearance checking between ring section and groove

-checking of clearance at ring ends

-check length of rings

Cylinder liner checking

-dismount the cylinder cover for making of measurement of cylinder liner

-place the cylinder liner measuring tool in the liner

-check the evaluate the condition of the liner according to measurement Form.

Liner dismantling

-remove the cylinder cover

-clean the top part of liner and after remove of piston

-disconnect the all pipes and connection

- lift up the liner by means lifting crane

Crosshead bearing

-open crank case door and turn the crankshaft to BTC  90 degrease

-make measurement of crosshead bearing by filler gauge

Crosshead bearing dismantling

-turn crankshaft down to make enough success for removing of bearing

-remove the bearing by means of lifting appliance

Crank pin bearing checking

-open crank case door and turn the crankshaft to BTC 

-make measurement of crosshead bearing by filler gauge

Crank pin bearing dismantling

-turn crankshaft to make enough success for removing of bearing

-remove the bearing by means of lifting appliance
