Radar Navigation at Management Level (Radar, ARPA, Bridge Teamwork and Search and Rescue)


Training Program covers the requirements of the STCW Convention.

Passing training program, trainee must gain:

  • Understand possible radar display, ARPA, TT and AIS reported target errors, limitations and accuracy.
  • Supervise OOW on use and proper setup of marine radar equipment in different conditions.
  • Understanding of ship passage planning in restricted visibility, including radar position fixing, navigation, parallel index techniques, clearing danger, alteration of course.
  • Understanding of navigational information, which is received from resources, including RLS and ARPA, to make correct decision in relation to collision avoidance and safe navigation.
  • Understanding how to connect and effectively use all available navigational information to ensure safe navigation.
  • Understanding of how to coordinate and carry out search and rescue operations, applying procedures, included in International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue manual (IAMSAR) with the use of radar.

In order to enter into the presented training program, trainee must represent:

  • Certificate of Competency, Education Certificate or Certificate of Proficiency;
  • Seamen’s book or Civil passport or ID;
  • Medical Certificate or medical certificate form 100(for coastal water area seafarers’).
  • Has completed training course program “Radar Navigation, Radar Plotting and Use of ARPA at operational level”, according to STCW code A-II/1 standard requirement.
